Recently, Aviv Moon Productions had the opportunity to televise The Boys National High School Ruby Championships from Charlotte, North Carolina. This event was broadcast live to the world via our CDN service, Livestream.
The championship was 18 games over the period of 3 days, six; 1½ hour segments per day. Opens, graphics, bumpers and commercials for sponsors had to be produced, edited and completed before the event started. But our team was up to the challenge…
First, a pre-production meeting was held to plan, assign duties and schedule the production staff. We call these meetings “Blue Sky” meetings and they are used to get our head into the game, literally, by creating what the day is going to look like. What equipment needs to be used at the site, schedule air-time thru our content delivery network, Livestream and when to schedule our people and equipment arrivals.
Second, the graphic look had to be created. Our Creative Director, Tera Wooten, took what was provided by the event sponsor and put the finishing touches on them, creating full screen, lower third graphics and scoreboards. Once these elements were done, our Producer/Editors, Amber Green, Seth Woodall and Kayt Hollis animated our opens and produced the commercial breaks. Then Kayt loaded everything into the Production Truck for playback.
Finally it’s setup day… We load-in all cameras, fiber optic cables, camera pedestals, wireless systems, audio systems and IFB.
On game day, we record the games using our Newtek Tricaster and Black Magic Design Hyper Deck Studio systems. This redundant recording makes sure we are getting a great recording every time. For the public, we record a master DVD that can be duplicated with our 10x duplicator system. Once finalized, we can make available the DVD’s to the public within 15 minutes of the ending of the game. Coaches and parents really love this service. And to make sure you hear every bone crushing tackle, our Presonus 32.4.2 Digital Audio Console delivers crystal clear audio so that you experience the game both visually and with great sound.
To get the best shots possible, we employed the Teradek Bolt Pro 300 wireless camera system to the sidelines. This made our coverage of the game up close and personal. It was as if you were right in the Rucks or Lineouts as they were happening.
A crew of six people manned the production truck with Producer, Technical Director, Director, Asst. Director, Graphics and Audio Engineer. Four Camera Operators and two interns completed our compliment of staff…
